Fascinating. Resident Assistants are unionizing, demanding (more) pay…
The RA training I received at Drexel University was far more engaging than the education I received at Drexel…thought out, practical, serious. I considered compensation in the form of a room (with bathroom!) to be a fair exchange. No board. Just room.
That said, I was on duty on night a week and didn’t have weekly crises with which to deal. Just, “please turn down the music” sorts of things and some light programming we were expected to produce, a welcome respite from my EE curriculum. RA life also provided an instant social network and some of my best college memories (vs grinding through EE).
I guess another way college costs will go up…and a job that has become much more demanding given the increase in mental health issues and wide variety of hard drugs now available.
