#ThisWeekInAI I talked with a current UG college student who described the culture of fear (checking #turnitin to try and figure out why your original work is being labeled 47% “AI generated”, providing your teacher with Google Docs revision history to “prove” original work) at his Uni. I watched higher ed pundits go down with the ship, claiming “AI detection does_ work!” I also:

  • Used Darren Coxon’s astounding Walking Tours bot to have a conversation with an alien intelligence. About Stephen King’s “Salem’s Lot”. Via Jason Gulya. Link below.
  • Used Amazon’s Bedrock to summarize thousands of rows of open text feedback to create compelling summaries based on sentiment and “categories”. Not sure how to double-check the work (the results def made sense…but still). Most amazing part was the conversation. Follow up questions with context.
  • Was prompted by LinkedIn to “rewrite with AI” but declined lest someone run this post through an “AI Checker” and “prove” I #cheated.
